Heather S. Huston

I have always taken photographs. After a lifetime of immersion in all realms of art, I finally settled into photography as a profession in 2005. My self portraits for me are a mirror; many taken at times when I had very little reflection from the outside world and an overwhelming need to create one. They remind me of my strengths, my dreams and who I am.

I’m in love with photography. There is so much beauty in the world! I see the art in everything and am fascinated with color, form, shape and design. I’m mostly a purest when it comes to creating images and generally prefer a light touch while editing as my goal is to share what I see through the lens. I come from a family of wildly creative women; painters all. This has had enormous influence on my work and shaped my style of photography; I put everything I am into my work.

I'm a night girl. I’m also a theory girl, a nature girl, a traveling girl, a quote girl and an animal girl. I am something of a wild creature, a heavenly creature, a different kind of creature altogether. I’m happiest when I'm in motion. I thrive on change and living in the moment. I don't follow the rules; I live outside the lines. I am probably one of the most genuine people you'll ever meet.

In July of 2010 I was diagnosed with Late Stage Neurological Lyme Disease or Chronic Lyme; a highly political, controversial and misunderstood disease. After 30+ years of fighting an invisible battle with no help and no answers from the medical community, my life makes sense now… all of it. As of right now I'm on the road that is the journey back to health. I fight for my return to life everyday and for those who can't. I share my strength and my love with everyone who has been touched by this disease and live with the knowing that our combined energy, compassion & fight for AWARENESS will see us through.
